Notepad++

There is no perfect editor, and never will be. My preferences for an editor are:

• Able to deal with ASCII as well with Unicode files
• User-definable font
• Syntax highlighting

Notepad++ is offering this for free, although the syntax coloring features are limited I'm afraid.
